We were now six days into Speed Week 2006 and still hadn’t surpassed our 2002 top speed, our first run Thursday morning changed that Ted ran 201.722, in the afternoon Don took his turn behind the wheel and ran 200.236, we now had two drivers with “A” licenses and for the first time ever were seeing the top side of 200 mph!

Check out the plates bolted under the truck

In the meantime we got to celebrate even more as our pit neighbours scored records.

Hooley Huffman in 974 "Just Glad to be here" entered the 200 MPH club on Thursday by setting a new record at 236.921 MPH for B/BGCC. The 974 Stude is pictured here in impound attended by Sumner Pattersons push truck.

Then we cheered as Scott Beairsto claimed the 1650cc, Altered Frame, Partial Streamlined, Gas class (1650 APS/G) with an average of 212.096mph!

Friday, as Speed Week came to a close we squeezed in two final runs, Ted turned in a 198.554 in the morning and Don followed that up with our fastest run ever at 202.149. Sans hood Scoop.

We’ve still got 12 more mph to go before we can touch the current B/STR record, and we are back at home working on achieving that goal. We’ll be increasing the base weight of the truck so that we will have tuning weight available to us again. We plan to work on some aero issues around the front end of the truck as well as narrowing the rear end so that a larger diameter tire will fit comfortably and perhaps provide us with a more substantial contact patch. Most roadsters we chatted with in pre-stage weighed in near 4000 pounds, or truck it turns out was an anemic 2700.

Speedweek 2007 here we come!
