"North of 49" at Speed Week 2002

small logo

Monday, 12 August

The Staging lines were huge on Monday morning. After Dons run Sunday afternoon we had changed the rear tires to the larger 28 inch tires, Ted would make the first run, his "B" license attempt.
The long wait, as the temperatures rose conspired against him though. This trip down the track he ran slower than he had on his "C" license run.

The big tires come off, and the 26 inchers go back on for Dons "C" license run in the afternoon.

The Staging lines were still very long Monday afternoon, but the company was great. This is the Wheels Magazine special, from Sweden, and run by the Jokers car club also from Sweden

A couple of the swedish crew helped me out with a calendar shot of "North of 49"

This plate on one of the Tardel/Mackenzie support vehicles would be ideal for Don's roadster.

Mark Morton's modified, "The River City Roadsters" staff car. Perfect for the starting line to pits cruise.

North of 49 Crew member Al Gingles was on cloud 9 for the duration of this, his first, trip to the salt. His 49 seemed equally happy to be there. Visit Al at his homepage.

It's been a long wait in the Staging lanes, Don is starting to suit up for his C run.

By the time Don's C run was done and we'd made it back to the pit, the sun was setting. Monday was one long day on the salt.
